Date as printed
Monday 7 DEC; 7.30pm - 3am
Date note
Weekday, day and month are printed (‘Monday 7 DEC’) but no year; the label supplied with the scan says December 1987 and 7 December fell on a Monday in 1987 (not in 1986 or 1988), so 1987 is a consistent attribution but not a printed fact.

This is a printed admission card for the Rock Garden in Covent Garden, London. It reads ‘To see: The New English at Breakthrough I’, gives Monday 7 DEC, 7.30pm to 3am, and a special admission price of £3 to be paid at the door. The card says admission is not guaranteed, and the conditions printed down the right edge include an age limit of 18+, no refunds and no transfers. No year is printed. The weekday fits 1987 and the label supplied with the scan says December 1987, but the card does not confirm that itself. ‘Breakthrough I’ appears to be the name of the night. The card advertises an admission arrangement for a planned date; it does not show that the band played.
